Learn Guitar Chords Online

Metaphorically that is. Learn Guitar Chords OnlineThe best advice I can give is to stick to an easy guitar lesson (there are plenty of free easy guitar lessons online today) and whenever you get fed up just learn a beginner guitar song you enjoy playing in order to keep yourself motivated while you struggle to control your seemingly retarded left hand.

The most common method is to learn a few chords, add a simple strumming pattern and shebang you’ve got yourself a little simple tune to sing along to. There’s nothing wrong with this advice at all. I just thought that I’d mix things up a little bit for a change. I taught myself with easy to play guitar songs and I found that I much preferred songs that used picking as opposed to strumming. I must warn you though that whilst it’s a lot more enjoyable picking and it sounds a helluva lot better, it’s probably not the most natural/advisable educational route. It is very important that you follow some type of easy guitar lesson structure otherwise you’ll end up taking ages to learn, and very often you’ll pick up bad long-term habits. That said, I wouldn’t recommend buying an easy guitar lesson until you’re fully committed to learning to play.

So I’m basically going to list a few of the beginner guitar songs that use picking and leave it to you to decide which you’d like to learn. Most of the songs listed below don’t wholly consist of picking, but the picking parts are easy to learn, sound good, and are good practice:

Ben Harper – Walk Away (picking and strumming but VERY easy and repeated throughout the song)

Blink 182 – Adam’s song (Intro and chorus is picking. Very tasty)

Bloc Party – Biko (not very easy but is repeated throughout the whole song and sounds awesome)

Blink 182 – What’s my age again (only a small part is picked)

Snow Patrol – Chasing Cars (half the song is picked)
