The mystique of students competing

One night I was sitting outside watching the stars after a long day in my studio. Many thoughts crossed my mind that night, but he was the one that was most important. And I must confess that this thought was uncomfortable, because it became clear that some students had been working hard in training and education had ideas of glory and fortune long before they are ready to cope. Why bother, you may ask, is

uncomfortable because it was obvious that I taught students who wanted to jump instead of walking towards the objectives of their dance. Of course it is natural for Students wanting to speed things up, but it is also important for the teacher to help students understand that dance should be taught in their own time. I think that's where you come from negative experiences, the dancers in the scene before being ready. With dance there are many places and there are certain protocols with each site to be learned, "first." As teachers, we share personal experiences of our travels in dance and shape and mold our program accordingly. This label also means learning through teaching. That said, what do we do when we have a student Occasionally, you want more fame than they want the training or the label?

What became evident in the classroom was a person of a given unit determination to succeed at any cost. It is not always easy to see that as a teacher and sometimes a dancer can hide pretty well. I remember an instance where a student wanted done with her, but she wanted me to be a dancer backup for her. What I asked to do was to try to teach a class on stage and follow their instruction. I told him to support hundred percent, but it should make up their own. It is difficult to know how the word of his opinion and not hurt students' feelings. If I was his backup dancer, the teacher-student relationship has been lost forever because of what he has seen in my shoes. My shoes and I do my size and my shoes took years to use and get comfortable.

Years of training student I was blessed with the vision of some who are exceptional dancers in our dance. Some of them have arrived and are dancing and decorating of our scene with his incredible talent today. Who are the students who are exceptional, but to leave thinking the world owes them. The impatience of the dancers can also be expensive. One student in particular had great potential, but I was impatient and I wanted to dance around immediately. I danced in a restaurant at the time and sometimes get calls from parties on the nights I danced. So I sent my place a few parties and requested that my number card if someone calls a position which was the resource person. I learned that she had delivered his letters and told the people that call if I ever need another dancer. Some of you who are not familiar with our dance label, which is the protocol for the card to the person who has posted a job, especially if your teacher. Do not ask for a percentage, I just ask my dancers to perform professionally and do a good job. My student who became my competition after a few more gigs and I realized that was not only taking money from me, but I did my nose. So I did what any teacher worthy of doing, I tried kicking in the pants and go forward.

Dancing in the restaurants can really give a dancer can work on your form and technique. Some years ago I had one night a restaurant that allowed students to bring my girls every Wednesday. This gave them the opportunity to experience dance in a public place that was safe and comfortable. There were some students who really loved to dance and dance more on Wednesday. After a while I realized that some of these students started coming to class less and less, but still insists on dancing in the restaurant. So I had to let them know that while I proud of them, they had to continue the class so they can participate in training. To my surprise, a student told me she told a customer who was as good as the weekend dancers and why she did not dance the weekend? And in the end the client was told to her husband and all his friends who think the same thing. However, no friends or the husband had come to attend a weekend so they can see the difference between dance and students professional dance. He insisted on an audition for the show weekend and I wanted to be paid for their performances on Wednesday. What I had prepared for girls was the dinner and followed their advice. So I said that the decision for weekends until the owner would not me, but felt prepared for a hearing. She became angry and left my studio and did not return, but decided to go the owner of the restaurant itself for a hearing. I was informed by the owner that she went and told him he was not ready for a hearing because he needed more training. She told him what a "client" he had said, and unfortunately, it has reached its interest. Then he gave a hearing and asked me to be there to give my opinion on their performance. Well, as you can imagine, he had much to say, but I stay calm and I The night I went to a hearing. As I thought, it was bombed and mortified. It was a hard lesson for her to learn and for me to witness. She left and never turned to her and I met through the grapevine that stopped dancing. He is a professor there who still wants for this kind of lesson to all students. But sometimes, the universe has no other choice but to show the harsh reality of what can happen when you lose your humility. And like his master he had nothing more to say.

Sometimes when you are working with students can be easy to forget the teacher-student relationship. Let's meet our students are among the best in the world and shows and places can be hard work. Having a good support can make a big difference in the outcome of a show. The important thing is to ensure that you're not a student as an equal to a show before having paid their dues with experience. I learned the hard way two years ago a dance with a friend and it worked. I brought my son because he had a dramatic backdrop. She became the third largest producer of the series and then when the problems started.

Once she became a producer of our relationship has changed and I realized that respect it was time for me was to get out of hand. At the end of the production of our relationship has taken a nose down. Unfortunately, there was no return to what had made with her. I only make my enemy because I gave him the taste of what took me years to learn and understand. A few weeks later after the show opened I wanted to take the show on the road and I had to say no. I did it in the sense that I did because I felt I had to do things by themselves as I used to appreciate what it takes to win a place in their community. Without knowing that I gave a false sense of authority finally has been used in some of the other dancers for their anger. The lessons of this type can take months to evaluate and reflect. Sometimes when I look back I feel like I had lost something that can never be replaced, but life teaches us that we must continue on our path. Looking back prevents us from seeing what is before us.

What can you do when a teacher who has worked with a student and shared with her their hard-won knowledge and all students is your program? This includes, choreography, style and verbiage. I have a wonderful mentor, Frasson Romana taught me a lesson in education that I will never forget. She said she had to teach from experience and heart for my students to believe in me. Sometimes this can be a double-edged sword. Because when put a lot of passion in our classes, we miss lesson. Once students learn to their curriculum and teachers with an understanding of success and lessons methodology which becomes the final result of a joint effort. We hope that students take what they have learned and pass the message and training. But sometimes what we think we teach our students can get lost in the programs and issues. It is a phenomenon that baffles me to highest point. I have friends who taught dance to students for years and suddenly I'll realize that the student has left and no mention of more studies with his former master. It's almost as if the years of mentoring has been lost and ended up in the middle of the dark side. What these dancers do not understand is that they take with them years of experience to their teacher gave them. At the same time, do one of these students feel no loyalty after he left? Looking back on some of the students who emerged from my research, I have not heard of them PEEP and sometimes see. Sometimes, just to inform the world and where we should be.

It's one of those issues that creates a lot of emotional in many dancers. I know I did. And let's be honest, there are two sides to every point of view. Only after I became a teacher do I finally understand what my teachers happened. I sitting outside on a starry night thinking of my students appreciate Finally, the role my old dance teachers in my career. Maybe once we appreciate what we have learned in our dance, we can treat our own two feet and say "thank you" all teachers who have helped make us who we are. From thought to myself, it's as simple as that? What is the real problem when teaching students and the relationship does not? How can we know the true story of each dancer in the study or learn your choreography? If a student is ready to take a program from a teacher and he asked as yours, you should see what we're really trying. What creates this phenomenon begins with the principles and values are separated at an early age. If the place of origin is dysfunctional to begin any student, so they end up by cons side effects that tickle down and realize various problems. The signs are not always easy to see that problems arise. But if we could better understand the characteristics of a student that could rival prepared to face this dilemma. If we do that, ultimately, lose no aspect of ourselves.
