Learn Blues Guitar Online – What You Need To Know About the 12 Bar Blues

Learning to play blues guitar online is a lot cheaper and comfortable than seeing an instructor. You can advance at your own pace without any stress or other negative feelings. I will give you an example of how you can learn blues guitar online by explaining the 12 bar blues progression and also offer a few tips.

The 12 bar blues is known as the most common chord progression used when playing a blues guitar. This is how it looks like:

I7 I7 I7 I7
IV7 IV7 I7 I7
V7 IV7 I7 V7

What does all of that mean? This goes back to music theory. The roman numbers “I” (one), “IV” (four) and “V” (five) are used here. This is why some people usually refer to this as the “one four five” progression. The “7″ refers to the fact that the chord types are dominant 7. There’s a whole theory here but I won’t go into it, instead here is an example in the key of A, where we have the following chords:

E7 D7 A7 E7

Notice that each chord gets one bar for a total of 12 bars. A dominant 7 chord has a very blues-ish sound.

This is basically how you learn blues guitar online, by reading about all sorts of methods and ways to improve yourself. Here are a few tips regarding this particular style.

Try playing 12 bar blues progressions using both open and barre chords. While using barre chords you will find that you can play all three chords without moving around too much on the neck. For example, in the key of A, you have barre chord at the fifth fret with the root on the low E string, and then on the IV, you have the barre chord at the fifth fret with the root on the A string.

You can also use different strumming rhythms or patterns. For example, for each bar you can strum a triplet pattern, simply count to three for each chord. You can also tweak this by dividing the triplet pattern into two parts, such as holding the chord on one and two and strumming again for three.

There are other things that can help you learn blues guitar online. You just have to realize that the Internet is also good for learning something, not just socializing, buying and selling. When you compare that two ways in which you can learn guitar, I say that the online one is a lot better. This is my opinion about the option to learn blues guitar online.
