Seeing Red: Holiday Red Sea Diving
The Red Sea is narrow, sheltered shores have extensive shallow shelves that allow marine life to flourish, the region supports more than 200 species of hard and soft corals, more than 1,000 invertebrates and 110 species of fish – 10 percent of them are known for everywhere else in the world. The rich biodiversity of the area has been officially recognized by the Egyptian government, who created the "National Park of Ras Mohammed, in 1983 to protect the Red Sea from pollution and development.
Like most of the northern hemisphere tropical sea, is very popular with European divers, offers hundreds of the best dive sites. Not only the diversity of marine life, but with an average temperature of about 26C water visibility, a good and a small range of tide is also considered a safe place for diving. Although the Red Sea along the coasts of several countries of North Africa and Middle East, including Sudan, Eritrea, Somalia, Saudi Arabia and Yemen, which is Egypt, which is known to be the host of diving holiday.
For experienced divers, wrecks Red Sea many offer a fascinating glimpse of naval history and also how nature can have on artificial materials and use them as habitat. "Thistlegorm, a British ship that was sunk by bombers in 1941 is considered as one of the top ten dive sites in the world. Much of the cargo of the ship is huge persevered and are still visible, such as motorcycles, guns and even train cars!
Egypt is well equipped to accommodate holiday scuba diving, and divers all levels – from beginners to more experienced dive masters – are well served.
