Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers Tickets – Bringing the ‘Mojo’ to the Stage

June is a huge month for Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers. It’s the start of a new musical development that is marked by their first album in eight years and a worldwide tour. Supporting Mojo, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers will be visiting 35 cities this summer in support of the mid-June release. The cross country event will see these veteran rock stars visiting cities like Oakland, Edmonton, Omaha, Milwaukee, Kansas City, Chicago, New York, Atlanta, Nashville, Dallas, Phoenix and Los Angeles through early October.

As dates continue to be added to this full length jaunt, your city is sure to be on one of their stops – so pick up Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers tickets now from http://www.stubhub.com.

The tour, which enlists a slew of impressive opening acts like Joe Cocker, ZZ Top, Drive-By Truckers and Crosby, Stills & Nash, won’t just give fans the first live concert performance in years; it will also give them free digital Mojo. With the purchase of every ticket, concertgoers will be the first to hear the full length studio set upon its release. Hopefully that will make up for the “switch-aroo” that happened earlier this year when the group’s May dates were postponed until the fall to better coincide with the new album release.

The 12th studio album is apparently blues based. Petty revealed to Rolling Stone writer David Fricke last year: “Some of the tunes are longer, more jammy kind of music. A couple of tracks really sound like the Allman Brothers – not the songs but the atmosphere of the band.” The first studio release from the outfit since 2002′s The last DJ, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers released The Live Anthology just last year. The four disc set includes standard covers the group loves – like The Grateful Dead’s “Friend of the Devil” and Fleetwood Mac’s “Oh Well” – along with some of their own classics.

From the time Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers emerged in the ’70s, they were immediately catalogued into the punk movement of the era. Though fundamentally speaking the group hasn’t changed much of their sound, the group’s tight guitar riffs and expertly penned lyrics have kept them in business. Eventually as the years passed Petty and his backing band slowly brought Southern rock influences to the forefront. The group managed their career well in the wake of the MTV culture, creating lyrics that rebellious teens could relate to and starring in unique music videos that offered one of a kind entertainment.

Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers formed in 1976 after Petty, a Florida native, befriended the group while under contract with Shelter Records. Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers was released in 1976, which saw success in England before making its way to the States. The top single “Breakdown” became a Top 40 hit, followed by “American Girl.” Two years later after an English tour opening for Nils Lofgren, the group’s sophomore You’re Gonna Get It became an American Top 40 success. Though the group’s label forced them to file for bankruptcy, they pulled it together for the 1979 Backstreet release Damn the Torpedoes. The group released album after album into the next decades, rocking international stadiums with tons of “mojo.”
