NBA Tickets – Lottery Mock Draft

A lot of underclassmen have declared for the NBA Draft, so I figured it was as good a time as any to do another mock draft for the lottery. The draft order was determined by record. (Note: This article was written on April 28th.)

New Jersey Nets – John Wall, Point Guard, Kentucky: Wall will be the top pick unless Utah or New Orleans wins the lottery; then the pick will either be moved or Evan Turner will go number one. One might be able to add Minnesota to that group as well. The Nets have Devin Harris, but he’s not better than Wall and definitely won’t sell as many NBA tickets. Drafting Wall would allow the team to ship Harris for another asset and build the roster around Wall and Brook Lopez, which is a very nice start.

Minnesota Timberwolves – Evan Turner, Shooting Guard, Ohio State: The Timberwolves are really hoping that they’ll end up in a position to draft Turner, or at least they should be. He’s the perfect fit for their current roster, as they’ve got a hole at the two and his presence would allow them to slide Corey Brewer to his natural position at small forward.

Sacramento Kings – Derrick Favors, Power Forward, Georgia Tech: DeMarcus Cousins is an option here, but I think Favors would get the nod because of Cousins’ character concerns. Favors did not produce a ton in his lone collegiate season, but came on strong toward the end of the year. He’s an upside pick, but there’s so much talent there that third overall is not a reach.

Golden State Warriors – DeMarcus Cousins, Power Forward/Center, Kentucky: While a Cousins-Don Nelson union could result in World War III, I think the team would be willing to take a risk on a player of Cousins’ talent. He’s a polished post scorer and a lot of scouts can see him at center.

Washington Wizards – Wesley Johnson, Small Forward, Syracuse: Johnson would fill a need for the Wizards, who are in rebuilding mode, and he’s good value here. He’s a versatile player that can defend, though he doesn’t project as a takeover guy at the next level.

Philadelphia 76ers – Hassan Whiteside, Center, Marshall: I think Whiteside’s stock is going to skyrocket once teams get his measureables and work him out. He could end up being one of the best players in this draft if he realizes his potential. At the very least, he should develop into a defensive force.

Detroit Pistons – Ed Davis, Power Forward, North Carolina: The Pistons desperately need help inside and Davis, while somewhat of a project, has a lot of upside. He’s already a good rebounder and a solid shot-blocker, but his offensive game needs refining.

Los Angeles Clippers – Al-Farouq Aminu, Small Forward, Wake Forest: Aminu could be a major bust, but his upside will get him picked in the Top 10. The Clippers have a hole at the three, so this pick would make sense for them.

Utah Jazz – Greg Monroe, Power Forward, Georgetown: Monroe is a crafty scorer and a good passer. He’d be the perfect backup for Paul Millsap, who will likely be Utah’s starting four next season.

Indiana Pacers – Eric Bledsoe, Point Guard, Kentucky: Bledsoe is another guy I think will shoot up draft boards as we really get into the pre-draft process. He’s tough, a good shooter and is a true point guard. He was overshadowed by Wall in the UK backcourt, but I really like his potential. This could end up being a bit of a reach, but the Pacers really need a point.

New Orleans Hornets – Cole Aldrich, Center, Kansas: The Hornets needs someone who can contribute right away, and Aldrich is probably the best player left on the board in that respect.

Memphis Grizzlies – Patrick Patterson, Power Forward, Kentucky: Patterson is tough and ready to contribute, precisely what a Memphis team with a shallow bench needs.

Toronto Raptors – Ekpe Udoh, Power Forward, Baylor: He’s an upside pick, but the Raptors could be looking at a major hole a power forward this summer. Daniel Orton could also be an option if they swing for the fences.

Houston Rockets – Gordon Hayward, Small Forward, Butler: Hayward just seems like a Daryl Morey player to me. He’s an intelligent player that is destined to overachieve in the NBA.

College Football Rankings: 2010’s Most Turnover-Prone Teams
How many times have you heard a coach say, “If we win the turnover battle we’ll win the game”? Thanks coach. But don’t shun those cliche-spewing coaches just yet. Take a look at last year’s Top 10 (really 11 since North Texas, Purdue and Minnesota all tied for 10th) teams in most turnovers and you can see the overused comment is pretty accurate. Those teams went a combined 51-85, and only two …
