WHAT DRUM KIT SHOULD I GET? I AM INTERMEDIATE?

hey i am looking at buying my second drum kit i want it to be a acoustic kit that is under $1500 australian. I have no idea i am looking between a MAPEX MERIDIAN BIRCH or a MAPEX MERIDIAN MAPLE.

so it sounds like youre basically deciding between the two different types of wood. lets look at price first. generally, birch is cheaper than maple. this does not mean that it sounds worse!!! maple is just harder to manufacture. so if youre trying to keep it under a certain price range, birch may be the way to go. but, sound is of course just as important, if not more. birch tends to give you a brighter sound with a quicker decay, whereas the maple will be a little darker, a little more mellow with a longer decay. this is where it comes down to personal preference. I play a tama starclassic and i was also deciding between maple and birch. i went with birch. may advice is to go to a music shop and try out the 2 woods and see if you can tell a difference between then. it doesnt have to be a mapex set, you just want to at least get a small feeling for how these materials differ. if you dont have access to a music shop, look online to see what different drummers play, then listen to the songs to see if you can tell a difference. if not, go with birch. you wont be disappointed
