Is the yamaha silent guitar an electric guitar and will it sound like an electric guitar?
i just wan to know how does it sound and can i change the sound to make it sound like an rock electric……..thx
The tone that you are looking for can be found in three ways. The first is to change the strings to the type that you need and change the soundboard to maple, or you can replace your pickups (I recommend both). The last is the most expensive, but the easiest: buy special amps and effects pedals.
To properly play rock, blues, or jazz, you need to be able to bend the strings. The only way to do this would be to buy electric strings and change them out (you need to use medium to heavy gauge for your guitar! otherwise you’re pickups will not register the strings!!!!). My favorite would be the nickelwound Ernieball strings.
For the pickups, also, are a major contributer. Different pickups sound different with each guitar and hardware arrangements, so you might want to check out a few.
Many guitarist will use effects pedals like tube screamers, distortion, chorus, ect. For that clean smooth sound that you will find blues players use, try the Boss Blues Driver with the distortion turned to low and the effect level high (that way you get the crunchy perky sound and not the distortion), if you are looking for a Metalica type sound, try the Boss Metal Zone with the Distortion/Overdrive, both on med settings. You can try your own pedal and pedal combinations with an amp of your choice. I recommend (for starters) A Martin or Peavy amp (start while your ahead and get a 60+ Watt amp, you’ll use it later).
Good luck
