Guitar Yamaha Fg700s

Yamaha FG700s acoustic?

Is this a good guitar for me? I have virtually no experience with standard guitars. I do own and play a cheap bass, but i’m interested in playing an acoustic. The reviews for the Yamaha said it was good for newbies and veterans alike.

Yeah it’s a fine guitar. You can’t go wrong with any acoustic guitar in that price range as long as you stick to the major brands. The biggest concern is probably the neck thickness and string action. Guitar action is notoriously set a bit high out of the factory, so you might want to get it lowered. As for neck thickness, you might find a thinner neck more comfortable if you’ve got small hands. Regardless, you’ll get used to the neck thickness as you accustom yourself to your guitar.

The best way to get a feel for the comfort of different guitar brands and models is to go to a guitar shop and play/hold some.

So back to answering your original question, the Yamaha FG700s will be very decent. If anything feels uncomfortable, you’ll probably get used to it eventually.

If you’ve got any other musical instrument related questions, I think you can get a better variety of responses if you post in the Arts & Humanities –> Performing Arts section of Y! Answers.
