Easy To Learn Guitar Notes

Particularly tricky is getting a beautiful sounding upstroke. And even among more accomplished players you will find some players that have such a sweet sound, while others have a harsher sound. Easy To Learn Guitar Notes You can have a beautiful upstroke that stands out among the rest, by following my tips.

Loose Grip on the Pick

First of all, you need to have a nice loose grip on the pick. The pick needs to be able to tilt with the direction of your strum, this is a crucial first step. You must have a loose grip on your pick.

Left hand has to be under control

If you want to perfect your strum, you’ll need to focus all your attention upon your right hand. You will not be able to do that if you are still struggling with your chords! You have to have control of your left hand before perfecting your strum. You have to be able to execute chord changes cleanly, smoothly and quickly. If your chords are not clear, no amount of strumming will make them nicer.

One way of getting a head start is to practice your strumming on an open chord, without your left hand. If you are still finding that your fingers get sore, this can be a time to both give your finger tips a break and a chance to get going on some really nice strumming.

Understanding the downbeat and upbeat

The downbeats are your count one, two, three or four, when you are strumming down. The upbeats are in between the downbeats, that’s when you strum up.

It’s important to note that the downbeats are stronger and more important than the upbeats. The upbeats (except in some special situations) are generally softer. Just knowing that can already improve your upstroke.

Gently lift the hand back up

What you want to avoid is a hard strum that pushes up against the strings. This is what most beginners do. It creates a very harsh, scratchy sound. What you want is a softer, smoother sound.

Consider the down stroke as your main focus. and then as you gently lift the hand back up to play the next down stroke, you just happen to lightly sweep the strings. Make the upstroke almost insignificant — an afterthought.

Don’t hit all the strings

Don’t worry about hitting all the strings on the upstroke, most times the upstroke is a smaller chord. Make a soft sound and the looseness of your wrist, your focus instead.

By using these tips you will find your old harsh upstrokes being replaced by sweeter and sweeter sounds. As you continue learning the guitar, you will sound more and more polished.
