guitar strings numbered
Acoustic guitar strings?
So if I was buying a set of strings, what would i be looking for?
I’m a complete musical numpty!
Some people are musical minded, some people are great artists, with me it’s numbers and formulae, a good skill to have but it doesn’t really help you unwind after a hard day.
I’m just after a string set that I can start to strum some tunes with, without costing me more than an amateur should spend!

It depends what type of guitar you have, a nylon(classical/Spanish)or steel strung.
NEVER put steel strings on a classical guitar they wiil bend the neck and pull the bridge off.
I wouldn,t recommend the other way round simply because it will sound shit.
Classical/spanish guitars are more versatile, nylon strings hurt less and don’t make ones fingers smell so much.
As far as makes are concerned I always use D’addario for both my classical and steel strung.
You would probably be best with normal tension nylons.
Steel strings can be more of a minefield I would ask for light gauge if you’re a fingerstyle player, medium if you only play chords.
