How do you know when to change electric guitar strings?

I have an electric guitar and strings i have probably not changed for around or over a year (except high E). I play for about 45mins-1hr a day and how do i know when is it time to change my strings? I have not noticed any different sounding of the strings since i put them on, at least i think so. My strings are not “dull” nor rusty. Please help me experienced guitarists!

as long as the strings are not losing their harmonics, and getting that “dead” sound and are not rusty, you’re fine. I have been playing for 26 years, and I don’t ever change the strings until they start to lost that “ring” which is caused by being so stretched out that the higher harmonics are no longer sounding. Just keep on pickin!
