How to follow the schematics?
I have the schematics for a fuzz face guitar pedal, but what do I do now. I also have the list of parts but how do I read a schematics so i can hook up everything right.
A schematic is like a road map. It shows how the different components are connected and where the intersections are.
Probably the best way for someone with limited electrical/electronics experience would be an experimenters breadboard from Radio shack. It will end up a little larger than necessary but would make it easier to build.
You will notice on the schematic that some lines intersect and may have a dot at the intersection. these components are connected together. If the line is drawn with a little hump they do not. Put the parts in the breadboard and solder them on. Then use small gauge wire ( also available at Radio Shack ) to make the indicated connections. Once you start it should become more apparent how it goes together.
I started electronics as a hobby when I was a kid and that is how I learned. Later I spent about 20 yr. in electronics manufactureing. You may contact me and I will try to help if you need it.
