guitar scaling lessons
Intermediate Guitar Lessons?
Hi. I am a Guitar Teacher/Instructor. I have had students for a few years now but all i have ever had is complete beginners. I now have a student who has some experience with scales and chords and he actually knows quite a bit. can someone give me some suggestions as to what to include in my lessons for this beginner-intermediate level student?
What does the student know? Usually what teachers do when they get a new student is ask him or her what they know, and then to play something so the teacher has a base to start the student on. Oh, the teacher also asks what bands or music the student likes.
What my teacher asked me on the first day was if I wanted to learn notes, so I said yes. He told me to buy a certain book and in addition to learning things out of that, he told me to make a CD of songs that I wanted to learn (I was a non-beginner). He also focuses on my problem areas and gives me exercises to strengthen them.
