What song should I Learn on guitar to improve my legato technique?

I was told i need to be more fluid with my phrasing since i use a lot of staccato. So what better way to improve then focusing on legato playing YAY!!!- So im open to any suggestion any song, anything that will help me improve my legato playing. Thanks :)

Hi Matt,

What I would do is recommend you try simple warm up exercises to train your fingers to play legato.

For example, you could play 1-2-3-4 on each string where your first finger plays the first fret, second finger plays the second fret, third plays the third, and fourth plays the fourth.

Concentrate on what it sounds like, use your ears. Each note should ring out clearly and you should keep your first finger pressed down until your middle finger plays the next note, etc.

You can do this warm up on each string forwards and backwards, just make sure each finger lands in the center of each fret, you use enough pressure, and you use your ears.

A good song to learn would be Paint It Black by the Rolling Stones.

Peace,
Andrew
