Logo Creation Tips – Volume 5

In this installment, we’re going to discuss some advanced design techniques.

One of the clever things that many people do with logos is incorporate a certain look into another look. For example, for the logo for the company “Eleven”, what they did was take the number 11 itself and use it as the index and middle finger for a hand making a gesture. It’s actually quite clever.

Another company “August”, what they did for their logo is in place of the letter “g” they used the number 8, which just happens to be the month number that August is.

Then there’s the company “Buzz Cart” which uses a shopping cart that has bee antenna inside the cart. Again, another clever use of one object into another object.

“Cafe Unplugged” incorporated their actual name into the design of a guitar, with the name forming the bottom part of the guitar.

“SEO Solution” was very clever. Instead of just using the word solution, they spelled it SEOLUTION with the E and O formed in such a way that it actually looks like SOLUTION and at the same time looks like an E and an O forming the O. Again, just brilliant.

“Petfoto” has a camera that has freckles and animal ears coming out of it. Again, very clever.

“Bird” uses an actual clipart of a bird in place of the B. And while it really doesn’t look like a B at all, it still gets the idea across because of the last 3 letters. It couldn’t possibly be anything else and the clipart is obviously a winged animal.

These are just a few of the many examples of incorporating one object into the name or another object for your logo.

Obviously, there is a lot to creating a logo and, in all honesty, it isn’t as easy as some people make it out to be. Not everybody has a creative side. And then, even if you DO come up with a great idea, there is the actual rendering of the logo itself.

This leads to other problems.

Today’s software for logo design is very comprehensive. It’s also one heck of a learning curve. Sketching something on a piece of paper is one thing. Transforming it into a work of art using Photoshop or some other software is not as easy as it looks. Years go into perfecting technique.

For this reason, few companies actually create their own logos, at least not entirely on their own. Problem is, who do you trust for something so important?

Below, you will find a site that not only has a crack design team but understands business needs enough so that they know how to deal with the demands. They work quickly and will work with you until you are totally satisfied with your logo.
