Origin of guitar strings?

The guitar is a member of the lute family of instruments. The first guitar to be recognized was used somewhere about the 1st century CE in Mesopotamia.
Originally guitar strings (like other musical instrument strings) were fashioned from animal gut and probably made somewhere in that part of the world.
Modern guitar strings are made of steel, nylon and an assortment of other polymers.
In 1953 Amelio Vinci revolutionized the music industry when he invented the first automated string-winding machine, which enhanced winding accuracy and created strings that deliver the truest sound possible. Today, most manufacturers are still using the same technology that Vinci created nearly 50 years ago.
