What is the difference between a Martin Guitar D40 and D41?
The biggest difference is the bracing. The D-40 had the “forward shifted” bracing pattern and the D-41 has the “scalloped” bracing like the HD28. I think the D-40 had the modified V neck whereas the D41 has the newer “low profile” neck. There are also smaller differences like the tuning buttons and “aging toner” and snowflake inlay on the D40. Martin makes a “D41 Special” now that has the features of the old D40 for $150. more than the standard.
