How do you fix a whammy on Guitar Hero 3?

In the guitar battles, my opponents keep attacking me with the attack labeled “whammy.” Once that happens, I can’t play anything and I end up losing. Is there any way to fix a whammy attack so I can actually play the notes like I’m supposed to?

Just use the whammy bar until it goes away.
