How do i guitar solo/improv?

so my teacher gave me the 7 modes : ionian, dorian, phrygian, lydian, mixolydian, aeolian and locrian. So i know them but i dont get how to solo with them. Do i just mix them together or something?

If you know your scales, then you should know what frets to play where. So basically you could use soloing techniques, shredding, anything that suits your style. You could watch some excellent soloers on youtube, to help you see. But mostly, it comes from the emotion, and the heart. You should play from the heart, and soul and let your guitar be the tool in which you can express these emotions.

Mostly i just shred up and down scales and use shred techniques and tapping with some bends and slides and vibrato’s on the side.

So you should try playing with emotion, and thats all that counts, because a good solo / song is one that tells a story, not one that sounds fancy and shows how good you can play guitar.

Been playing guitar for awhile… Shredding is fun, but sometimes simple, with emotion sounds better, but if you can put them both together… then you are quite something.
