Decent Guitar for a sort-of beginner, $325 give or take $50?

I’ve been playing an acoustic for about 7 months, and I’m finally ready to make the jump to an electric. I have learned most basic techniques, but most of the music I listen to (and hopefully the songs I will eventually be able to play) are electric (I play grunge, classic and hard rock, and alternative).

I’m open to almost any guitar shape (please no super extreme shapes; B.C. Richs and Deans) as longs as it sounds good!

Also, if anyone could recommend a decent starter amp for about $100, it would be greatly appreciated.
I would only need a practice amp, 15 watts would be fine.

The main thing when it comes to buying your first electric guitar is to get something DECENT, so that you wont struggle against a lousy instrument. One of the most important things, and one of the most overlooked things by young players, in an electric guitar is the type of wood the body is made out of. We dont want anything made out of agathis or basswood. So, we need to find an affordable guitar with a body made out of alder, ash, or mahogany. In which case, your most affordable choices are these….

Make sure that when you go down to GC, look at those models EXACTLY. The first model can be confusing. because they have a similarly designed model that’s less money but made far differently. The 2nd one would be very good for a new guitarist. Nice and basic but versatile and can get any sound. A lot of guitar for the money. The 3rd one is a Squier, which are normally not on my list of good guitars for a kid. BUT… that one is good.

Now, amps…..

Get this one. PERFECT for you, You want to get something with a little reverb to it, and this will be a GREAT amp for you….

So, at MOST you’re spending between both is $400 plus tax. Not bad. And you got some decent quality stuff to learn on, instead of junk

If I was your dad and you were just starting out, this stuff is what I would start you out with before I give you my 1961 Strat ;)
