Will a AC-DC adapeter work with an AC input device?
I have a GNX pedal(guitar thing) and i lost the adaptor. It takes a 9vac with 1300ma. I found it at a radioshack, but it says its ac-dc and has a tip so i need to know if it will work without frying my equipment. I dont care about the warranty because im the 2nd owner and have no proof of purchase it has no diagram…its an ac INPUT…think playstation 1…the wavy line
The DC adapter will not hurt anything if it is the same voltage as the original AC one but it is not likely to work. Most audio devices require both positive and negative power supplies internally so they operate from an external AC supply which can be easily converted to + and – DC inside.
