whats the best type of wood for a guitar body?

I build guitars as a hobby, and I was wondering what type of woods offer different sounds. Any information will help. I am getting a tele body if that makes a difference, and also, What should i paint on my guitar?>

It all depends on your price range, and the tone you want. Fender mostly uses Alder for its lower end guitars and swamp-ash for more fancy ones. Both those woods have bright, crisp sounds. Gibson, however primarily uses mahogany, often with a maple veneer. Depending on the thickness of the body, that will have a full, round, warm sound with a varying amount of attack.

As for the paint: that’s really up to you.
