guitar attenuators

help choosing a guitar attenuator?
i have a 8 ohm mesa cabnet and dual rec and most attenuators range from 2-16 ohms, should i get an 8 ohm one?
Match the speaker out to the attenuator to the cabinet. Period.
(ie 8 ohm out to 8 ohm attenuator to 8 ohm cab)
