guitar anatomy strings

What are some good resources for teaching guitar?
I have started teaching guitar. My first student is a nine year old. He’s a really bright kid. For his first lesson I helped him tune his guitar, told him about the anatomy of a guitar, and told him the string names.
In the same lesson, I taught him about the different note values and we played a little exercise on the E, A, and D strings. I felt a little bit like I was boring him by talking too much or giving him too much information at once. It would be nice to get some tips.
There are many different course books to use. When I teach students I use the ‘Progressive’ series that come with CDs. For younger children I would recommend finding Alfred books.
Childrens book example.

Just keep in mind all 9 year olds are not the same. Get a feel for the attention span of your student before you pick out the course book. And keep the lesson under 30 minutes. You will probably really only be able to get about 15mins of good concentration from a child, so don’t take it personal.
Hope that helps,
James
