Any suggestions on what Gibson Guitar and an Amp I should buy?
So I bought a really crappy guitar (the cheap combo sets from BestBuy) just to try it out and love it and I can’t decide on a second guitar. I definitely want a gibson and was looking at http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Epiphone-Limited-Edition-Les-Paul-Studio-Deluxe-Electric-Guitar?sku=581254 and was wondering if that’s good or if anyone can recommend something better. Also looking to buy a new amp as well. Looking for around a $200-400 on the guitar, and around $100-150 on the amp, thanks.
The Epiphone Les Paul is a good choice. Keep in mind that it is NOT a Gibson. It IS licensed by Gibson. A real Gibson Les Paul costs about $2000 depending on which model. As far as amps go there are several brands in that price range and they all have similar features and sound. Epiphone makes several guitar and amp “packs” that offer a good value on the guitar and amp. Musicians friend has several of these packs available with prices ranging from under $300 to over $600. A word of advice; Go to all of the local music stores and try out as many guitar and amps as you can. Never buy a guitar and amp from a big box store. Always buy from a music store or a reputable mail order firm like Musicians friend. Try the guitar and amp out before you buy it. Many local stores will try to meet or even beat the musicians friend price or they can offer you personalized service that a mail order firm cannot. Cultivate a relationship with your local music stores. They can be a great source of knowledge and inspiration.
