Is rosewood seriously illegal?
I went into a Guitar Center yesterday and they told me that Rosewood is now technically illegal to own. Apparently Gibson guitars is being investigated by FBI for breaking the Lacey Act. I read some of it and it doesn’t sound too me that ALL rosewood is illegal. Sounds more like rosewood coming from protected forests is illegal NOT that wood itself.
I could be wrong anyone know any details on the subject?
Are these guys in Guitar Center just ignorant musicians who don’t fully look into details?
We had plant called wood rose that was exterminated in our island and removed from hats, now I think it’s extinct. It was a decorative plant with a wooden “rose” on it. I heard the FBI wanted it out, but I don’t really trust the source. I wonder…
