famous guitar artist

Battle of the virtuosos…guitar players….???
Okay it’s Monday and I’m bored already so it’s time for another “Battle of the bests…” This time, stictly rock guitar virtuoso soloists…
Joe Satriani vs. Yngwie Malmsteen
Steve Vai vs. Gary Hoey
Jeff Beck vs. Jason Becker
Michael Angelo Batio vs. Mattias IE Eklundh
John 5 vs. Tony MacAlpine
Paul Gilbert vs. Eric Johnson
Gary Moore vs John Petrucci
Steve Morse vs Robert Fripp
Okay before you get your panties in a bunch about all the guys I left off…I am trying to make this between guitarists who are mainly solo artists (yes I know some of them have played in famous bands)…so that is why you don’t see guys like Page, Dimebag, Hendrix, ect…
so glad to see people know their guitar players!! A lot of people are clueless as to who most of these people are
Yngwie Malmsteen – 1st Rising Force LP is a classic, good with Alcatrazz too.
Steve Vai – Love him with Frank Zappa, Alcatrazz & solo
Michael Angelo Batio – Great solo albums, and with Nitro, Holland, and C4
Tony MacAlpine – Both his solo stuff, and with MARS, Cab, Planet X, etc.
Eric Johnson – Check him when he was 16 with ‘Mariani’, and the 70′s band ‘Electromagnets’. His solo stuff really appealed to me also.
Gary Moore – Loved him with Skid Row (the Irish band) and his solo albums were brilliant.
For me comparing Robert Fripp to Steve Morse is like comparing an apple to an orange. I like each player very much…but I can’t answer a comparative question involving both, sorry.
Jeff Beck and Jason Becker? Again…too hard to make a decision here also. Both are entirely different styles, not to mention eras of rock. I love Speed Metal Symphony and Perpetual Burn…but I also love Rough & Ready, and Wired.
Each for different reasons.
I’ll leave you with a classic video of Frank Zappa and Steve Vai dueling out!
