electric guitar identify

Instruments used in Jack Johnson’s “Crying Shame”?
Hey there. So I was listening to Jack Johnson’s song “Crying Shame” and want help identifying all the instruments in the song.
Obviously there’s an acoustic guitar that’s the main guitar.
There’s an electric guitar that plays smoothly and softly in some parts.
What I really want to know is in the chorus part, when the lyrics are “It’s such a crying, crying, crying shame…” In this part, it seems like there’s a piano playing a jazzy chord riff. But there also seems to be some funky instrument playing some amazing funky riff at this time.
The funky part goes up in pitch and then down in pitch several times.
I would appreciate it if someone could identify that instrument. It sounds a bit like a clavinet (like the one that plays the funk in RHCP’s “Warlocks”), but I don’t really know.
Any ideas?
I’m pretty sure it’s just an electric guitar with an effects pedal or a keyboard that’s also using an effect. It could be a clavinet as you suggest, as essentially a clavinet is an electric keyboard with effects (it creates a hammer-on sound which makes the punchy, jazzy riff possible).
