guitarists: whats your guitar(s) and rig?
for guitars i have an epiphone DR-100 acoustic with martin SP light bronze strings
a black on black on mexican fat strat with a seymour duncan JB in the bridge and the stock mid and neck single coils with black covers
and a squire tele custom with a seymour duncan JB and ’59
and for the rest i have a Vox Valvetronix 30 watt with the footswitch and a Dunlop original crybaby wah
My main guitars are Ibanez S series. I have one with H-S-S configuration and the other is H-H. I too like the JB pickups. I also Use a custom ESP les paul and a Jay Turser that is almost identical to an Ibanez RG series. I usually use D’addario or GHS 9-42 (extra light) strings but will occasionally use another brand. For amps I am currently using a Hughes & Kettner switch blade head through a Marshall stack for bigger venues or outdoor gigs, for smaller clubs I will use a single 12 cab miked up with a sure sm 57. I used to use a rack full of effects but the switch blade has great sounding effects built in so I just add a noise gate to it. For smaller gigs or lessons I use a Behringer 2-12 combo or an ampeg single 12 combo sometimes I use both together to allow for clean and crunch sounds simultaneously.
On the acoustic side I am very happy with my Jasmine 12 string and fender 6 string guitars, I also have a conn 12 string that I use for slide tuning variations and a cheap no-name mandolin that plays and sounds great. All of the acoustics have built in pickups that I go direct into the P.A with a line to an Ibanez amp for acoustic monitoring on stage. I will occasionally use a Zoom G1X multi effects pedal for different sounds and recording.
