acoustic guitar adjusting

Is it okay to capo my strings to remove my saddle for adjusting (acoustic guitar)?
I need to remove the saddle on my acoustic guitar to make some adjustments to it. Instead of changing my strings, is it okay to tune them way down, put a capo on one of the frets, and then remove the pegs? If it is okay is there any certain special way to do it?
i would take the strings off , make the adjustments and put new strings on
